Projects

The Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society is dedicated to providing the various communities in our twin island nation with valuable programs, services and resources that relate to animal welfare.

Here are some of our major ongoing projects:

• The operation of an animal shelter for cats and dogs
• The operation of Antigua’s Donkey Sanctuary, home to approximately 150 donkeys. Visitors to the Donkey Sanctuary learn an appreciation of the special role donkeys have played in the development of our country.
• Regular low-cost spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats.
• Take Me Home/ re-homing adoption programme for the cats and dogs in our shelter
• A continual education outreach programme to sensitize the public on the humane treatment and best quality of life for animals.
• We keep up-to-date on modern methods of animal care and continually improve our programmes.
• Construction of dog kennels on Barbuda
